State Course Title: Opportunities in Hospitality and Tourism

First year students examine the components of the hospitality industry, including attractions, lodging, transportation, and food and beverage. Other topics include historical, political, social, and cultural impacts hospitality and tourism have had on local, state, and global environments.

Students have an opportunity to learn basic cooking skills, participate in cooking demonstrations and food tastings.  Students also plan various events, prepare meals and cater events.  Students who qualify may be able to go out and gain actual work experience.

A career in hospitality offers you an exciting professional future that allows to put your talents and abilities into an industry that has endless potential.

Students have the opportunity to become certified in the following area(s):

  • American Hotel & Lodging Education Institute (AHLEI)
  • Workplace Readiness
